Early on Tuesday morning seven Greenpeace protesters scaled the Ironworkers and rappelled to hang from ropes suspended underneath. Their goal was to stop a Kinder Morgan oil tanker from leaving the Westridge oil terminal by making it hard for a tanker to clear the bridge without hitting one of the midair protesters. It was a daring spectacle. On Wednesday afternoon police stepped in to remove them.
