Only District of North Vancouver and City of North Vancouver council are meeting this week, both with rather quiet agendas in store.

District of North Vancouver

District council will vote on final adoption and building permits for the Creekstone Care Centre, a 180-bed seniors’ facility at 1502-1546 Oxford St., in the emerging Lynn Creek town centre.

Council will also seek an outside consultant to help craft a new policy on how council members get pay raises in the future. Using an independent source is considered best practice as it is “most transparent and free from conflict of interest.”

Lastly, on Monday, council will be taking public input as they begin crafting their 2018 budget. If you want better public services or lower taxes, this is the time to go ask for it (although you should probably pick one or the other, not both).

On Tuesday, district council members will meet again to discuss the 2018 budget and for a public hearing into a proposal to make it easier for Upper Capilano property owners to subdivide 66-foot lots into 33-foot lots.

City of North Vancouver

City council will hear a presentation from Alzheimer Society of BC and debate putting in place a Dementia-Friendly North Shore Action plan.

The city will also consider a one-year partnership with Be More Than A Bystander – a non-profit project aimed at stopping violence against women.

The District of West Vancouver does not meet again until Jan. 22.
