North Shore dentist Dr. William Liebenberg has finally got his dream team together; he beams as he says, "Molly has been part of the office for over ten years now, and continues to be the most amazing person on the planet. There are literally hundreds of young adults who adore her for the kind and loving care she delivered at their first dental experience back when they were barely out of diapers!

Cherry has taken over the position of resident full time oral hygienist, with 16 years of experience as a dentist she now limits her practice to hygiene and has the hands and heart of an angel. Christie our certified dental assistant comes from a prosthodontic background and as such has proven to be a valuable team member and approaches her duties with diligence, compassion and excellence.

Our wonderful receptionist Leah has left for Toronto to pursue her career in journalism and Nargis, a recent (and top) graduate from the dental receptionist program has surprised us with her non flustered organized approach to running our front office. She is kind, considerate and empathetic towards the needs of our patients.

A total bonus was the addition of my daughter Tamryn, who is thinking of pursuing a career in oral hygiene and is for now testing the waters and has brought her organizational skills to our office and has everybody performing at optimal efficiency.

Liebenberg owns and runs the Westview Dental Clinic in North Vancouver. They offer esthetic and clinical dental services and are always welcoming new patients as well as keeping their loyal client base in excellent dental health. As we know, a visit to the dentist isn't everyone's favourite experience, and for some, the event can be panic-inducing. For Liebenberg, taking the time to minimize anxiety for every patient and making the dental experience as relaxing as possible is the reason he's here. He and his five-person team are constantly refining and tweaking their approach to patient care.

Liebenberg is convinced that the first dental visits of a child's life are critical to their life-long relationship with dental care and he and his team go out of their way to make children feel so happy that they'll never fear the dentist.

"We literally treat everyone like we want to be treated, it's that simple." Liebenberg says. "Every time we have a staff meeting, we discuss what we as individuals value in a five-star customer care facility" To Liebenberg, serving the community is a privilege, not a quick buck. Alongside his practice, he has taught clinical dentistry around the world, and has published over 130 articles on the subject.

"We're here for the patients. It's more than dental care. It's actually health care. Although, it is the source of our income, the focus is on providing care in a diligent, competent and respectful manner."

GET TO KNOW ME

WE ASKED DR. LIEBENBERG: FAVOURITE TECHNOLOGICAL GADGET?

None. My favourite "gadgets" are my bicycles; North Shore riding is the best in the world and the trails are literally in our back yard. Two of my daughters rode the Gran Fondo with me in Sept - priceless! - Who needs technological gadgets?

FAVOURITE MUSIC?

I appreciate all types of music, yet never tire of classical music. Music from the baroque period is my favorite, although my Beethoven collection would be my "stranded on an island" choice.

WHAT ARE YOU READING?

I am reading In the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts by Gabor Mate a local physician who directed Vancouver's downtown eastside medical clinic for ten years. The book is disturbing as it examines addiction and homelessness within our city, realities that only affect us when we take a wrong turn into Gastown. The message I have gained thus far is that we all need to achieve greater humility in how we face the world and the people we'd like to think of as lesser individuals.

IF YOU WEREN'T A DENTIST, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I'd be a combination of a carpenter and an artist. I marvel at the creative potential of the imprecise effort of abstract art as opposed to the precision of dentistry. The allure of a blank canvas can be all consuming. A meditation in itself.

KEY TO SUCCESS

Treat people how you want to be treated.

They may forget the treatment provided but they always remember how you made them feel.
