West Vancouver's former mayor, Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, wants to take on MP John Weston in the next federal election.

Goldsmith-Jones revealed this week she'll seek the West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country Liberal nomination.

Goldsmith-Jones has met with Liberal supporters and is currently circulating a campaign-style document outlining her qualifications. She is working on her executive MBA at Simon Fraser University's Beedie School of Business and is running a consulting firm.

Goldsmith-Jones joins two Sunshine Coast residents who declared their intentions earlier. Judith Renaud and Robert Cannon-Brown have submitted papers, and riding association president Ken Halliday noted their documents are under review.

Halliday said the federal Liberals are going to nominate candidates across the country in three waves over the next year in anticipation of an election on Oct. 19, 2015, though no date has been set for the West Vancouver nomination.
