West Vancouver police are looking to return property acquired after a weekend investigation of three stolen vehicles that led to the arrest of two suspects.

An officer on patrol attempted to pull over a car around 1 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 in the 3100 block of Marine Drive. The driver of the vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen from Alberta, fled but the officer found it abandoned nearby and detained a woman in the immediate area.

Soon after, police received another report of a stolen vehicle from a home in the 3000 block of Marine Drive. Acting on a hunch the two cases were related, police released the woman but kept an eye on her. She led them to 6400-block Keith Road where police found a man with the second vehicle reported stolen and arrested him without incident.

In the course of the arrest, officers recovered property that was directly connected to the third vehicle that was later found, said Const. Jeff Palmer of the West Vancouver police.

Justin Colby, 23, of no fixed address, was charged with possession of stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle at North Vancouver provincial court Monday.

A 19-year-old woman from New Denver, B.C. was released on a promise to appear in court in March.

Police recovered a number of suspected stolen items from three vehicles including electronics, iPhones, vehicle key fobs and jewelry.
