Tire slasher

North Vancouver RCMP are renewing their call for help in solving one of the worst vandalism sprees in North Shore history.

Someone slashed more than 150 vehicle tires overnight on Dec. 4 last year. The suspect apparently started in the Capilano University area and travelled down to the Park & Tilford area.

Investigators released images of the suspect caught on a nearby store’s surveillance camera this week hoping someone in the public will recognize him.

The suspect was wearing a black coat and white or grey hoodie with blue jeans.

At the time, North Vancouver RCMP spokesman Cpl. Richard De Jong said it was the biggest case of criminal mischief he’d seen.

ICBC received 77 claims for slashed tires in the neighbourhood the next three days.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Const. Andrew Banville of the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-969-7534 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers.
