North Vancouver RCMP are advising commuters of possible traffic delays in the Lower Capilano Road area this evening as a result of a scheduled demonstration march against Kinder Morgan.

The march is planned to begin at 5 p.m., ending at approximately 7 p.m. Demonstrators will depart from the parking lot on the southeast side of Capilano Road and Marine Drive. From there they will walk southbound on Capilano Road coming out on Welch Street, turning east and continuing up to the Phillips Road overpass. They will take the overpass and arrive at the front gates of the Kinder Morgan facility.

The protest was initially planned to coincide with a public information meeting, scheduled for tonight at the Grouse Inn on Capilano Road, about Kinder Morgan’s proposal to expand the diesel capabilities at their North Vancouver facility on West First Street. The public meeting has since been postponed, although the protest is still expected to go forward.

Police will be in attendance to ensure public safety and are advising commuters to consider alternate travel routes, if possible.
