Richmond RCMP say they have "identified" and "located" the suspect allegedly responsible for the assault of a librarian at a community meeting on housing Wednesday evening.
Cpl. Dennis Hwang said, via a news release, the apparent assault, caught on video, was unrelated to the community presentation being held at Richmond Public Library.
Hwang alluded to people misjudging the incident.
Eyewitness Stan Lomas, a 67-year-old long-time Richmond resident, told the News the suspect appeared to be opposed to the housing project.
Hwang said there will be no more updates at this time.
The News has asked if the suspect is known to police or has mental health issues and whether charges are being considered.
