Staff at Presentation House Gallery welcomed art lovers to an opening reception and book launch at the North Vancouver space Jan. 19.

The event celebrated the opening of three concurrent exhibitions highlighting unique, intensive approaches to photography and archival documentation, and marked the first showing of German artists Anna Oppermann and Marianne Wex in Canada. Oppermann's Filiations features two ensembles and photographic canvases.

Wex's Let's Take Back Our Space is a sociological study of how we create and present ourselves through photos of men and women coupled with mass media rephotographed images. Andrea Pinheiro's Bomb Book is a 12-volume, 2,450-page publication documenting, on each page, the name of every nuclear bomb test blast since 1945. The exhibitions will remain on display until March 24.
