A motorcyclist has died following a horrific crash in North Vancouver Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. on the Mount Seymour Parkway interchange in front of the Holiday Inn, according to District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Capt. Matt Humphries.

“He got off at the Mount Seymour Parkway exit and lost control of his bike, hit a pole and was apparently run over by a car going westbound on the on-ramp to Highway 1,” Humphries said. “When we got there, he had no pulse. We did CPR on him. We got a faint pulse back.”

Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Lions Gate Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

“He had some very serious injuries, though,” Humphries said.

The victim, a 32-year-old Vancouver man, has was later transferred to Vancouver General Hospital, according to police. In an update Friday morning, North Vancouver RCMP reported the man had died.

The BC Coroners Service has taken over the investigation. Speed is thought to be a factor, according to police.

He was riding a street-legal enduro bike.

The driver of the other vehicle was quite shaken by the collision and is receiving support from the RCMP’s victim services unit, police said.
