Drivers are being told to keep away from Keith Road at Brooksbank Avenue for all of next weekend.

Crews working on Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s highway interchange project will have the road closed from Brooksbank to Mountain Highway/Lynnmouth, although drivers will still be able to cross Keith north and south at Mountain. Access to the business park at 1225 East Keith Rd. will be via Lynnmouth Avenue.

The closure is in effect from 9 a.m on Friday, July 20 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 23.

It comes as the province is about to fire up the buzz saws and begin clearing trees for the next phase of the $200-million project – building two new bridges over Lynn Creek as well as an eastbound on-ramp.

“To accommodate this work, the trails crossing underneath the east and west sides of the Lynn Creek bridge will be temporarily closed. While there will be no marked detour, pedestrians and cyclists can cross Highway 1 using the nearby Fern Street overpass. The east trail is scheduled to reopen on Sept. 3, in time for back to school, and the west trail is slated for reopening in November 2018,” a statement from the ministry read.
