Are you disappointed Canada’s medal haul is heavy on bronze?

Anne Hermon, North Vancouver: I’d be happy if they got one medal. I think they’re working very hard and any medals are good enough.

Canadian athletes shone brightly at the 2010 Olympic Games, winning a record 14 gold medals, but at this year’s Summer Games in London, our country’s colour of choice has been bronze. As of Thursday, Canada was ranked 12th in total medal count, with 10 bronze medals, 5 silver, and one lonely gold. But let’s put it in perspective: The Winter Olympics are attended by far fewer countries — just 77 participated in 2010 compared 205 this year in London — making medals of any colour that much easier to come by. At the Summer Games, is bronze as good as gold?

Sam Jackson, North Vancouver: That’s a little disappointing. We did pretty good (in 2010).
Mina Ghanearzeh, North Vancouver: I’m not Canadian and my country (Iran) is down far (in the medal count). But I’m disappointed about Canada too.
Jeff Matthews, North Vancouver: Seems good. I think they’re all doing all right.
James Dooley, Silverton, Oregon: I think the Canadians are doing great. I felt badly for the big (soccer) game. I thought there were some tough calls . . . but they did great.
