Hey soccer players – chill out!

That’s the message the City of North Vancouver is sending out as soccer season has become frozen in time following a new batch of snow and cold. This week the city noted that an unidentified user group cleared the snow off a large patch of the new Fenn Burdett artificial turf field, damaging the playing surface in the process.

“Please do not take it upon yourself to clear the fields,” the CNVFields Twitter account noted. “The foot traffic has compacted the snow fusing it to the synthetic fibers in ice. Clearing the fields in this state would void our warranty and cause damage to the fields.”

It is essential that the fields be allowed to melt naturally to avoid further damage, the city noted. Weather forecasts are calling for snow to continue in North Vancouver for the next several days.
