North Vancouver RCMP are investigating a head-on collision on Capilano Road that sent one driver to hospital Tuesday night, and knocked out power to more than a thousand homes.

Police say the incident happened around 7 p.m. when the driver of a northbound car crossed into oncoming lanes at 21st Street.

“The driver of one vehicle was taken to Lions Gate Hospital for what turned out to be minor injuries. The driver and passenger from the other car did not need medical assistance,” said Sgt. Doug Trousdell, North Vancouver RCMP. “We don’t exactly know that happened but that’s under investigation.”

The crash caused one of the vehicles to spin into a hydro pole on the east side of the road. It took BC Hydro crews until the morning on Wednesday to restore power to more than 1,300 customers between Norgate and the British Properties.
