Langley Mounties are investigating a fatal crash that took place Thursday morning in the 2300 block of 256th Street.
A black Chevrolet Aveo apparently went off the road to the right, slid down an embankment, and struck a tree, said Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks. She said the accident may have taken place between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m., but emergency services weren't called until car was spotted in the ditch at about 7: 15.
Assistant Township fire chief Bruce Ferguson said the victim was apparently found dead at the scene.
The 25-year-old driver was the only person in the car and was on his way to work, Marks said.
The Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was called to help local police with the investigation.
A mile-long stretch of 256th Street was closed for several hours after the crash, while police investigated.
Speed and weather conditions may have contributed to the accident, Marks said.
Victim Services workers have contacted the man's family.
Anyone who saw the crash or has information about the accident can call the RCMP at 604-532-3200.
