Hundreds of Langley's littlest students will be heading to class for the first time Sept. 7 as they begin kindergarten.
As part of a two-year transition, half of the local public schools will have full-day programs this year and the rest start next September.
In 2010-2011 Langley School District will offer 535 full-day kindergarten spaces. Of those, 456 will be new spaces; 79 are through Aboriginal, ESL and Special Needs programs.
The schools offering full-day K now are: Alice Brown, Blacklock, Douglas Park Community, Fort Langley, Gordon Greenwood, James Hill, Nicomekl, North Otter, Parkside Centennial, Peterson Road, Shortreed Community, Simonds, West Langley, and Wix-Brown.
In 2011-2012 full-day kindergarten will be available for all children in the district. Alex Hope, Belmont, Coghlan Fundamental, Dorothy Peacock, Glenwood, James Kennedy, Langley Meadows, Langley Fundamental, Noel Booth, RC Garnett, Topham, Uplands, and Willoughby) start next school year.
