About 40 minutes ago I walked past Harold Fromme's statue, minding his own business, with a school book saying "Back 2 School" on his lap and a pencil in his right hand. He also had a backpack on his back.
Whoever put these things there (probably a parent) has a great sense of humour. I had a big smile on my face as I walked past Mr. Fromme's bronze in the intersection of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Highway . . . that is, until a female officer pulled over in her cruiser and took everything off this lovely statue.
When I commented on it, she replied "It is littering."
Littering? How about all the Starbucks' coffee mugs, pizza boxes, cigarette butts, MacDonalds' wrapping etc. Would she stop her car to pick up all the other crap that is lying around?
My reaction to her was: "Lighten up already." In Amsterdam where I was born 73 years ago, a picture of this marvellous scene would have been on the front page of the Dutch daily newspaper.
