More than 525 runners participated in the challenging 16-kilometre Seek the Peak 2012 relay race on June 17, beginning at Ambleside Park, winding up through Capilano River Regional Park to the Cleveland Dam, along Nancy Greene Way and up the Grouse Grind to the top of Grouse Mountain.
Participants tackled the run individually or in teams to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Funds raised through this year’s event will help the organization Rethink Breast Cancer expand its research and support programs for women under 40 with breast cancer.
Top relay team was Capilano Eagles, with a time of 1:40:54. Top solo male: Colin Dignum (1:28:11). Top solo female: Chessa Adsit-Morris (1:47:38). Dave Mallinson, who raised more than $10,000, was winner of the Kim Tempest Top Fundraiser Award. The award was created this year to honour Mallinson’s late wife, an avid Seek the Peaker who died from advanced breast cancer in December.
