Paul McCartney returned to Vancouver for the first time in almost half a century to perform at BC Place on Sunday night but it was more than worth the wait for his fans. “It’s been a long time, Vancouver,” he told the sold out crowd. “It’s good to be back.”

Macca and his band (Rusty Anderson on guitar, Paul Wickens on keyboards and guitar, Brian Ray on guitar and bass and Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums) opened with “Magical Mystery Tour,” closed with an Abbey Road medley and in between played close to 40 songs over a three-hour set as part of his “On the Run” tour.

Paul McCartney’s “On the Run” tour began July 15, 2011 in New York City. The band finished the current leg of the worldwide tour with shows in Vancouver (Nov. 25) and Edmonton (Nov. 28 and 29 at Rexall Place).
Fans waited almost half a century for Paul McCartney to return to Vancouver.
Here’s the setlist although McCartney changed some things around during the show. The man was a machine — 70 years old and he didn’t miss a beat at BC Place. Seeing Macca live in concert was indeed an epic experience.
