Blustery weather and high tides conspired to flood West Vancouver’s Seawalk and other exposed seaside areas Monday morning, forcing the municipality to close large portions of its waterfront.
Water is pumped into away from flooded buildings
Argyle Gardens temporarily contained a water feature.
The Silk Purse + next doors Music box were completely surrounded by seawater.
No way to enter either building without getting wet
The whole area between Ambleside + 24th was closed for a period Monday morning until the seawater subsided.
Floating debris was 30 meters from the shore line in some areas.
Seawater covered most of the ground of John Lawson park + surrounding property.
The Ambleside Parking lot was completely submerged.
People took their chances getting wet as they moved around.
