A Surrey Mountie shot at a White 1995 Acura Integra as it took a run at the officer in Whalley on Wednesday morning.
Police were still looking for the car at press time. It's not known if the bullet hit anyone inside.
Sgt. Drew Grainger said the Mountie had been investigating complaints about a "suspicious" looking car at 122nd Street and 100th Avenue.
"This has been going on for the last three days," Grainger said.
As the constable approached the Acura, its driver tried to mow him down.
Grainger said the Mountie fired one round at the car.
"We have not recovered any evidence at the scene right now that would suggest any of the occupants of the vehicle have been struck," he said. "For police to use deadly force they would have to perceive grievous bodily harm or death."
The officer wasn't injured. The incident happened just before 10 a.m.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
