IN an attempt to keep shoppers from crossing the border, Canadian retailers are rolling out local deals this weekend.

Black Friday, the day after U.S. Thanksgiving, has long been marked as the convergence of commercialism and Christmas spirit. By some estimates, Canadians spend as much as $5 billion in the United States in November and December.
