A single-vehicle accident on the Trans-Canada Highway helped cause traffic chaos around Langley on Monday morning, as drivers tried a variety of alternate routes.
Just after 6 a.m., a large truck tipped over between 248th and 264th Streets on the highway's eastbound lanes.
Neither the truck driver nor other motorists were hurt, but the mess took time to clean up.
Langley Township firefighters were called in, as leaking diesel fuel was cleaned up and the remaining fuel in the truck's tanks was pumped out, said district chief Kevin Anderson.
Firefighters were finished by 10:30 a.m., Anderson said.
Coming at the beginning of rush hour, the crash forced eastbound traffic south into town.
Drivers heading west also slowed down to look at the wreck.
Meanwhile, other routes through Langley became clogged with diverted drivers.
