A Surrey man who robbed the Small Ritual Coffee shop in White Rock last month has been sentenced to three years in jail after pleading guilty to eight counts of robbery in Surrey, White Rock and Langley.

Clayton James Norris, 29, robbed the coffee shop on June 12 during a robbery spree that lasted 17 days. He entered his guilty pleas on July 10.

Norris walked into the Small Ritual Coffee Shop in the 1200-block of Johnston Road around 8 p.m., robbed a clerk at knifepoint and took off not only with cash from the nonprofit outfit's till but also donations that were intended to help fund cancer research.

Aside from the three years, Norris was also banned for life from having firearms.
