The 16th annual Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival kicked off its 10-day run Friday at North Vancouver's Centennial Theatre.

Lovers of outdoor adventure were inspired and entertained by the night's films of discovery and action, along with entertaining presentations, including the VIMFF 2013 Mountain Photo Competition Awards. The festival features dozens of films and guest speakers in the coming days until the 2013 edition comes to a close, Sunday, Feb. 17.
