Members of the Association of B.C. Teachers of English as an Additional Language (TEAL) Charitable Foundation held a fundraising wine and cheese event at Capilano University May 4 with more than 200 attendees.

The university played host to a B.C. TEAL conference May 4-5. The foundation is hoping to raise $100,000 to create an endowed scholarship to enable an ESL refugee student to study at the post-secondary level in B.C. The teachers have pledged to match the first $50,000 raised. The foundation's current year scholarship was awarded to a woman from Myanmar. Info: www.bcteal.org/tcf.
