The annual juried Discovery exhibition for new and emerging artists opened at the Seymour Art Gallery with a reception Jan. 8. Twenty-six artworks, each representing the theme Earth, were selected, encompassing painting, glass, ceramics, photography and mixed media in the fresh and eclectic show.

Today, staff are presenting a Poetry Meets Art event at 2 p.m., hosted by award-winning poet Fran Bourassa. Those in attendance will enjoy an afternoon of poetry inspired by the paintings, including works from local poets, as well as the general public during an open mic portion of the afternoon.

Earth will remain on display at the North Vancouver gallery until Feb. 2.
