Every once in a while I come across a gift wrap idea that stands out.
I’ve always believed that the gift wrap should be as important as the gift itself. First impressions are important, so why not take a little time to make it special?
Recently at a party I noticed a gift wrapped in regular, plain paper but tied off with a very pretty bow. The bow, in turned out, was simply leftover tissue paper that the guest had made into a pom pom.
These bows are very easy to make and they can be attached to a gift with either a glue gun or a good quality tape.
Materials
1 package of tissue paper
Scissors
Hole Punch
Twine
Pen
Be sure that your tissue paper has four layers and is in a square shape.
Fold the four layers into eight layers and then again into 16 layers.Fold the tissue paper diagonally to form a triangle. Then fold it again to form a smaller triangle.
At this point you have to fold one-half of the triangle and turn it over. Fold over the other half.
Using your pen, draw a half circle on the triangle with the folded edge facing downward. Cut out the petal with your scissors. Unfold all of the layers. You should have 16 round flower petals.
Stack the round tissue petals on top of each other, rotating them as you go.
Once all 16 petals have been stacked on each other fold them all in half.
Use your hole punch to make a hole in the bottom centre of the folded tissue petals.
Cut a piece of twine and insert it into the hole and tie off.
Carefully lie the stacked petals on a flat surface and, starting with the top layer, gather the tissue into a cone shape by pinching each layer at the base. You can flip the tissue over and pinch the layers on the other side to form a ball shape.
Attach the pom pom to the gift.
