Pet lovers are invited to attend Pints for Paws, a West Vancouver SPCA fundraiser set for Wednesday at Hearthstone Brewery on Marine Drive.

The big-hearted, possibly light-headed affair is crucial for supporting the shelter, said interim manager Krista Unser.

“Because we’re a non-profit and we don’t get any funding from government, this is basically how we roll, how we continue on, is fundraising.”

The West Vancouver branch is hoping to raise $5,000 with the event to help with the medical costs and day-to-day expenses that accumulate at the shelter, Unser said.

Tickets for Pints for Paws are $25, which makes it “more reasonable” for pet lovers who balked at the $75 ticket price that has accompanied the branch’s Salud! Toast to the Animals event.

Wednesday’s get-together includes a meal and a silent auction, which is slated to include gift baskets, pet baskets, and artwork.

“If you’re looking for a way to support us, it’s a great way to do so,” Unser said.

The event is scheduled to run from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hearthstone Brewery at 1015 Marine Dr., North Vancouver.
