North Shore News: How did you initially come up with the concept for Double the Love?

Double the Love: One very early morning, after months deliberating on how to bring fashion and self-love to women everywhere, April Robb (a former Capilano University classmate) called me and had two words to say: A truck! Right then and there the motions were set to do the business as a mobile site.

North Shore News: What are the benefits of running a mobile fashion boutique as opposed to a stationary one?

Double the Love: We have more control over our traffic by being able to go where the people are. Events and festivals are held all over (the city) and instead of waiting for the people to come to us, we go to them. Our business model creates a sense of urgency – the items don’t stay in the store for long. Bricks and mortar is very desirable in the sense that it is consistent for day-to-day life, customers always know where to find you and you’re not commuting all over the place all the time. However, we wanted to do something different and provide a new experience.

North Shore News: Tell us about the four favourite pieces you’re carrying in your shop for spring 2018 (many of which are pulled from New York and L.A. fashion weeks).

Double the Love:

•    The Kennedy Sleeveless Trench is the perfect transitional piece. It adds sophistication to an outfit so it’s a great piece to throw over the dresses you’ve already got in your closet, especially if you’re working in an office.

•     The Mykonos Crochet Dress is a total spring/summer classic. We really like to bring in pieces that have multi-use. This dress hits just above the ankle and you can wear it with the removable slip with a jean jacket and Converse sneakers for a trip around town. Or lose the slip and rock it over your bathing suit.

•      The Ravishing Mini is an adorable little dress that can easily be dressed up or down.

•      A springtime necessity, the Camila Cardi is a light, midi-length cardigan that’s cosy-soft.

North Shore News: Which trends are you most excited about wearing in spring 2018?

Double the Love:: We love two-piece sets and jumpsuits with a cropped leg – they’re spring uniforms that are so easy to throw on without having to think too much.

Double the Love is currently parked in front of the main entrance of Capilano Mall.
