Céline Dion has caught the attention of the world’s fashion-watchers in recent months, whether she’s stepping out on the streets of Paris in over-the-top styles by Gucci, Stéphane Rolland and Ralph & Russo, or hip-hop-inspired looks by Kanye West’s line Off-White.
Now the songstress is capitalizing on her newfound style status with a line of handbags launched in partnership with Quebecois department store chain, Simons.
Dion worked with The Bugatti Group of Montreal, a luggage, bags and accessories brand, to create the line.
The singer’s first accessories collection, it includes 14 sleek and understated purses in leather, suede and nylon, many adorned with edgy over-sized tassels and metal hardware.
The handbags come in a variety of styles, from backpacks to totes, to saddle to briefcase, making them ideal for the return to school or work.
Dion’s style renaissance, and foray into the design world which also includes a lifestyle line launching in partnership with Nordstrom, is being considered a symbolic revival of sorts following a period of mourning after the loss of her husband of 22 years and talent manager, René Angélil, who succumbed to cancer in 2016.
Behind Dion’s chic transformation is stylist-to-the stars Law Roach, who also works with singers Zendaya and Ariana Grande.
Though Dion has opted for haute couture looks from such designers as Versace and Dior for her Las Vegas performances over the last five years, Roach has encouraged Dion to break out of her traditionally minimalist street style choices from such designers as Jil Sander.
The 49-year-old’s newfound confidence even prompted her to pose nude for a July 2017 Vogue photoshoot.
Simons, also known as La Maison Simons, was originally founded in Quebec City in 1840 and is a natural brand partnership for Dion, who hails from the off-island suburb of Charlemagne outside of Montreal.
