North Shore community organizations have received a boost thanks to the latest round of provincial gaming grants.
The Ministry of Housing and Social Development announced Aug. 27 that it would be giving $324,750 to 12 different non-profit organizations in North and West Vancouver, as part of a larger $25-million release of gambling revenues province-wide.
The biggest winners here were the North Shore Disability Resource Centre in North Vancouver, which received $77,000, and West Vancouver's Duke of Edinburgh's Award, which received $75,000. The latter organization runs programs across British Columbia, but lists its address in West Vancouver, according to the ministry.
