KARL Gustavson Architect Inc. won the Heritage B.C. 2012 Award of Honour last October for the Britannia Lodge Rehabilitation Project.
Located in East Vancouver, the "special needs" assisted living mental health facility is designed to be a full-time home for people with mental disabilities.
The new design augments a 45-resident mental health facility by joining it with a three-storey heritage house on an adjacent property.
The lodge building connects with the heritage wing through a single-storey walkway.
The total square footage is approximately 21,000 square feet.
