North Shore Meals on Wheels has been operating locally since 1978, following in the footsteps of North Vancouver resident Jess Smith who launched Mobile Meals in 1967. The charitable organization is based at West Vancouver's St. David's United Church and volunteers provide and deliver hot, nutritious meals three days a week to those who because of age, illness or disability cannot always prepare meals for themselves. Kitchen staff and drivers were busy Wednesday ensuring the needs of local residents were met.
