Representatives of North Vancouver's Evergreen Squash Club played host to the 2012 Comfort Inn Open held Jan. 10-15. The tournament had a purse of $50,000 and attracted squash players from around the world. The finals were held Jan. 15 and a number of community members were in attendance to see Egyptian superstar Amr Shabana take the pro tournament title over countryman Hisham Ashour 3-1. The event is one of the two largest annual squash events in Canada.
