The 35th Annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival offers a weekend of musical discovery July 13 – 15. The three-day festival at Jericho Beach Park features more than 60 acts from around the world this year including K’naan, The Head and the Heart, Emel Mathlouthi, The Atomic Duo, Ani DiFranco, Murray McLauchlan, Canailles, Lucinda Williams, Cedric Watson et Bijou Créole, Alejandra Robles, Blitz the Ambassador, Ken Whiteley and the Levy Sisters, The Johnny Clegg Band, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Martyn Joseph, Dan Mangan and Serena Ryder. For a chance to win a pair of weekend passes to the festival (Friday night and all-day Saturday and Sunday) tell us which performer at this year’s folk fest played “Longheno de Castro” in Bob Dylan’s 1978 movie Renaldo and Clara. E-mail your entry to Folk Festival Contest at thisweekcontest@nsnews.com. Deadline for the contest is July 9, 5 p.m. Only residents living in the Lower Mainland/Greater Vancouver area are eligible to enter. Winners will be chosen in a random draw. For more information on the festival and a complete schedule visit www.thefestival.bc.ca.
