Australia's Circa brings Opus to Chan Centre

Acrobatic troupe performing live with Debussy String Quartet on Saturday, April 28

Contemporary circus company, Circa, will perform Opus at UBC’s Chan Shun Concert Hall on Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m. Since forming in Brisbane in 2004, the company has become an international sensation, being called to perform in more than 35 countries. In Opus, 14 acrobats — some of whom will be suspended from the Chan Centre ceiling — will perform gravity-defying feats as they interact with the four musicians from France’s Debussy String Quartet performing the music of Dmitri Shostakovich.  A free post-show talk with members of Circa and the Debussy String Quartet, moderated by Stephen Heatley, head of the Department of Theatre and Film at UBC, will follow the performance at 9:30 p.m. For more information and to order tickets call 604-822-2697 or visit chancentre.com
