"CNN Predicts a Monster Storm" (Track of the Day)

Laurie Anderson & Kronos Quartet from the album, Landfall

New video for “CNN Predicts a Monster Storm” by Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet, released today, from the upcoming album, Landfall, being released Feb. 16 on Nonesuch Records. Landfall was inspired by Anderson’s experience during Hurricane Sandy and is the first collaboration between the iconic storyteller/musician and the string quartet.

Anderson will perform, All the Things I Lost in the Flood, in the Chan Shun Concert Hall at UBC’s Chan Centre on Monday, April 23 at 8 p.m. Using spoken word, video, live music, and electronics the multimedia artist explores her 40-year archive of creative material.

She is also releasing a new book this week – a collection of essays, titled All the Things I Lost in the Flood, through publisher Rizzoli Electa. “For 40 years, I have made drawings, music, paintings, installations, film, sculpture, electronic design, software, opera, and theatre,” says Anderson. “At the root of all of these works are stories. They are the engines.”

The UBC event is a special add-on presentation that is part of the Beyond Words series at the Chan Centre. Copies of Anderson’s book All the Things I Lost in the Flood will be available at the show, and there will be a book signing following the performance.
