Kiev, Ukraine quartet DakhaBrakha perform “Sho Z-Pod Duba” and several other songs at an NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert.
Created by avant-garde theatre director Vladyslav Troitskyi for productions at the Kyiv Centre of Contemporary Art in 2004, the group’s music combines Ukraine folk songs with elements from other world traditions. They will perform at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival this weekend including a set on the Main Stage at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. They will also participate in a Saturday morning workshop, called “Sing It Like You Mean It,” with Dálava and Quantum Tangle on Stage 3.
