Earlier this week Sports Illustrated gave David Letterman the honour of introducing Kate Upton as the cover girl for this year’s swimsuit issue. Don’t know who Kate Upton is? Google her name just like millions of other people have all over the world. She’s trending particularly hard in Turkey of all places but according to the latest Google Analytics stats no corner of the globe is immune to a Kate Upton crush.

Her first appearance on the Internet was April 3 of last year when she posted a clip of herself on YouTube doing the Dougie at a Clippers game in L.A. and that’s when things started to go viral. The Google search “kate upton dougie” has so far generated 3.6 million views bringing the 19-year-old a lot of attention and a lucrative modelling career.

If 170,000 Twitter followers have anything to say about it this won’t be the last we hear of Kate Upton.

Society for News Design names five newspapers as best-designed in the world

The Society for News Design has named five newspapers, representing four countries, the World’s Best-Designed Newspaper:

— Excelsior, Mexíco City, Mexíco

Circulation 75,000 – 174-999 (Daily)

— National Post, Toronto, ON, Canada

Circulation 75,000 – 174-999 (Daily)

— Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Circulation 175,000 & over (Non-Daily)

— The Grid, Toronto, ON, Canada

Circulation 25,000 – 74,000 – 74,999 (Non-Daily)

—Politiken, Copenhagen, Denmark

Circulation 75,000 – 174-999 (Daily)

According to the SND judges:

“Excelsior uses a bold color palette and a multiple photographs on virtually every page to give it vigor and urgency. FAS and Politiken use sophisticated typography, masterful illustrations and wide broadsheet display to give them an authoritative look. The National Post revels in its narrow page width and tells stories visually as well as any newspaper in the world. The Grid has the feel of an underground paper minus most of the political coverage, but there are engaging story forms on every page that make its readers laugh or shake their head. The Grid’s journalists know their audience and they reach it brilliantly.
