G.W. Graham jazz musicians came home from a recent trip to Idaho with a whole lot of swag and some deserved swagger.

The vocal jazz group Treble Makers and the school's senior jazz band came first in their categories at the 2012 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho.

"This is the first time a vocal jazz group from Chilliwack has won and the second time that the senior jazz band from Gra-ham has won," said Graham's music director Janine Webster.

The jazz band were on the big stage ready to perform when they were informed they had won the grand prize of a Ludwig drum set worth more than $2,000.

They also took home two trophies, stick bags with drumsticks, a guitar case and "funky" red music stands, which all the kids will sign and save as souvenirs.

"The kids were amazing and wonderful ambassadors for Chilliwack," Webster said. "A lot of people were asking us 'Where's Chilliwack?'"
