Take an art tour in Deep Cove this weekend

North Shore Art Crawl takes place March 5-6

Deep Cove is one of the farthest outposts on the North Shore Art Crawl map of artists and galleries participating in this year’s two-day cultural event.

But that won’t stop art lovers from making a trip to the waterside community to admire the works of talented artists such as Gail Coney this weekend (March 5-6).

Coney, whose vibrant, hand-painted stoneware and glassware always attract crowds, has participated in the North Shore Art Crawl for four years and she always looks forward to opening her studio to the public for the annual art event.

“It is a great opportunity for the local community and also visitors from elsewhere to meet the artists and experience their creativity,” Coney told the Crier by email. “As an artist I appreciate the fact that people have taken the time to visit the studios. The Art Crawl allows me to meet wonderful, interesting people from all over who value what I do. It also connects me with many other artists in Deep Cove and other areas of the North Shore.”

The North Shore Art Crawl is a free event presented by the North Vancouver Community Arts Council that takes place this Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Last year 400 artists participated in the event at 78 locations.

This year there are 11 Deep Cove and Parkgate-area locations listed on the Art Crawl brochure and many have multiple artists on display.

Here’s the list: Parkgate Community Centre Art and Pottery Studio (3625 Banff Ct.); Sande Waters Studio (451 Roslyn Blvd.);  Gail Coney Studio (779 Beachview Drive); Daniella Amit Studio (4280 Strathcona Rd.); Leonid Rozenberg Studio (4432 Strathcona Rd.); Red Boat Studio (2035 Eastleigh Lane); Bumble Gallery (4318 Gallant Ave.); Seymour Art Gallery (4360 Gallant Avenue); Artemis Gallery (4390 Gallant Ave., Suite 104C; Marnie Boullard Studio (4323 Gallant Ave., Suite 206); and The Upstairs Studio 2637 Panorama Dr.
