Fawcett family has strong roots in Cove

Wilfred and Marjorie Fawcett purchased McLintock Insurance (founded 1932) in Deep Cove in 1969. It didn’t take too long to become Fawcett Insurance. It was an old building that had once housed a school on Gallant Avenue.

It was an old building that had once housed a school on Gallant Avenue. Wilf started the 11th Seymour Cub Pack, as he had a passion for the outdoors and working with kids. He was talked into starting the Scout group also for the 11th Seymour.

Wilf’s community involvement spread to the Lions Club, where he was also a key organizer in starting up the King Neptune Parade and Carnival of which he included the Scouts and Ventures. Wilf started the local Christmas tree sales for the Cubs & Scouts & had the boys selling tree vouchers door to door.

Wilf gave back to his profession being involved with the Insurance Brokers Association of BC, and was an active member of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. Wilf was also asked by Bruce Coney to write an insurance column in the Crier, which he did for many years.

This has rubbed off on his son Jeff, who at the age of eight started stuffing envelopes and was later licensed at age 16 when he started working with his parents.

In 2000 Jeff and his life and business partner Cindy Lou Fawcett purchased Fawcett Insurance, and today are located in Parkgate Village working side by side with 10 amazing staff.

Together they have continued the family involvement in the community they all love. Fawcett Insurance continues to be a strong supporter of local sporting and community events.

Jeff is past chair of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and Harvest Project.

Fawcett Insurance has supported the Seycove Auction since the beginning. Jeff co-chaired the charity event in 2000 and helped build a team that took the high school’s fundraising efforts to new heights.
