Support young artists this Saturday, Jan. 13 at the opening reception for Celebration: Youth Art at the District Library Gallery (1277 Lynn Valley Rd.) from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibition, which runs until Feb. 12, showcases artwork created by young artists between the ages of three and 12 years old. On display will be pieces exploring the realms of still life, composition, portraits, landscapes and more. The artwork was created in Anastasia’s Art Classes in North Vancouver.

Join curator and host Nicola Cavendish in West Vancouver Memorial Library’s Welsh Hall (1950 Marine Dr.) on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 2 to 3 p.m. to hear her insights and get a preview of the eight plays being presented during Kay Meek Centre’s upcoming Play Reading Series (Jan. 15-20). Cavendish will describe the selected scripts and introduce this year’s featured mix of new and novice playwrights.

Head to Deep Cove Saturday, Jan. 13 to catch the opening of a new exhibition, titled Steven Baylis: Manifestation of Intention, at Seymour Art Gallery (4360 Gallant Ave.). The exhibition, which runs until Feb. 24, features the artwork of North Vancouver artist Steven Baylis and his work that expresses his personal meditative practice. An artist talk followed by a reception is scheduled for Sunday, Jan 14. from 2 to 5 p.m.

Starting Friday, Jan. 12 you can rent or buy artwork right off the gallery walls at Cityscape Community Art Space in North Vancouver (335 Lonsdale Ave.). The Art Rental Show exhibition features 200 new works by local artists painting dramatic landscapes, bold abstracts, as well as other mediums. The exhibition, which runs until Feb. 3, is billed as a convenient and affordable way to spruce up any space, with rental fees ranging from $10 to $55 per month.
