West Vancouver Girl Guides Pathfinders Jenny Ellis-White, May Fujiwara-Forster and Zoe Macdonald yarn-bomb trees and benches in front of the Ferry Building Gallery with wool creations on Sunday. The group of girls ages 12 to 14 have been at work on the project since October, says their leader Anna Belluz.

Their goal is "to raise awareness about Girl Guides on the North Shore, and highlight the ongoing issues regarding girl’s and women’s rights around the world," she said.

The girls learn the basics of finger-knitting, crochet and knitting, but more than that, the yarn-bombings "give the girls and our community a greater sense of who we are in the world, and how we can affect others through creative activism," she adds. Their colourful "craftivism" will be on display until June 18.
