The following is a selection of volunteer opportunities from various community organizations, made available through Volunteer North Shore, a service of North Shore Community Resources Society.

Parkinson SuperWalk Volunteer This is the single most important provincial and national awareness and fundraising event for Parkinson Society BC. The event raises money for research and support services through individual pledges and corporate sponsorships. Volunteers are needed Sept. 9 in Vancouver (Ceperley Playground, Stanley Park) and Surrey (Bear Creek Park).

Festival Volunteer The 2018 COHO Festival is happening on Sept. 9 at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver. A great way to meet new friends and support a worthwhile cause. Help is needed with everything from the Coho Run, Swim and Barbecue to festival setup and take down. By volunteering with the Coho Society of the North Shore and their festival participants are helping to protect and rejuvenate salmon habitat on the North Shore. Email: volunteer@cohosociety.com.

Driver Volunteer drivers will provide transportation for seniors. The average shift is 2.5 hours and drivers are reimbursed for mileage. Volunteers need to have a Class 5 license, good driving history, a successful criminal record check and a car in good condition (or be eligible and willing to drive a Modo car).

Team Lead Volunteer HELP offers mobility, independence and safety to seniors and those recovering from illness or surgery in their own homes. The team leader supports overall site management and ensures professional customer service is provided to the public by the client service team.

Gardener Volunteer Assist elderly residents of a care facility, who love to garden, in planting their garden patch.
