Challenger Buddy Volunteer Help persons with cognitive or physical disabilities enjoy the sport of baseball, in a recreational, non-competitive environment. Commit regularly to be at the Challenger games and provide a safe and fun environment for the players. Assist Challenger players by pushing a wheelchair around a baseball diamond, leading a player around the base paths, or showing a player how to hold a bat or field a ball.

Pet Visitation Team Volunteers along with their pet will provide weekly one hour visits to people in care facilities such as senior care homes, group homes or hospices. The pet must first pass a half hour temperament screening test by Pets and Friends trained animal screeners.

Security Volunteer Volunteers will give directions to visitors and provide security to residents.

Volunteer Driver Volunteer drivers will provide transportation, in their own car, for seniors. The average shift is 2.5 hours and drivers are reimbursed for mileage.

Seniors’ Information Volunteer Mature, patient volunteer with good verbal communication skills and good computer skills needed on Friday afternoons. Responsibilities include answering telephones, assisting walk-in clients by providing appropriate information and referrals. Training provided. It would be beneficial if volunteer has knowledge about the North Shore, some of the services available and is able to speak another language.
