Lynn Valley Elementary won the top prize in the District of North Vancouver’s Walk and Roll Challenge held May 22-25.

The school received the coveted Walk and Roll Challenge trophy, presented by Mayor Richard Walton, as well as fruit juice popsicles for the entire school delivered by bike during a presentation ceremony held Tuesday.

For the challenge, the district encouraged students from its 20 elementary schools to walk, bike or scooter their way to school for a week.

Students, or their parents, were encouraged to take photos of themselves walking, biking, or scootering to school and submit them to the district. By the end of the week, the four schools with the highest participation rates received awards.

This year’s top four schools were:

Lynn Valley Elementary, who will also receive $1,500 for their Parent Advisory Committee to use towards an active transportation initiative, plus the Walk and Roll Trophy and fruit popsicles for the entire school.

Montroyal Elementary will receive $1,000 for their PAC to use towards an active transportation initiative.

Eastview Elementary will receive $500 for their PAC to use towards an active transportation initiative.

Highlands Elementary will receive $500 for their PAC to use towards an active transportation initiative.
