North Shore Realtors are once again collecting blankets and warm clothing to donate to those in need.

The 23rd edition of the Realtors Care Blanket Drive, organized by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, runs Nov. 14 to 21. During that week, Realtors from across the Lower Mainland will be collecting donations of blankets, sleeping bags and warm winter clothing to distribute throughout their communities.

“The cold weather season is here earlier than normal, which only increases the need for donations,” Jill Oudil, REBGV presidents said in a news release. “We need the public’s support to help us meet this need again this year. The Blanket Drive is a local campaign that helps people in communities across the Lower Mainland.”

The annual program generates enough donations to help more than 20,000 Lower Mainland residents. Those donations are distributed to partner charities in the same community where the items were dropped off. Since its first year in 1995, the program has helped more than 300,000 people keep warm and dry.

On the North Shore, Realtors will be collecting, sorting and delivering items to the Harvest Project, the Lookout Society, Covenant House, Rain City Housing, Yukon House and the Vancouver Police Department.

Donations of new or gently used sleeping bags, blankets, warm clothing, coats, hats, gloves and scarves, along with new socks and underwear can be dropped off at any real estate office on the North Shore. You can also call your local Realtor to arrange for a pickup.

Alternatively, donations can be dropped off at Lynn Valley Centre (by Westlynn Bakery) on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 1-5 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 16 from 4-8 p.m.; and at Capilano Mall (by Fairweather) or Park Royal (by Simons) on Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19 from 12-4 p.m.
