High school students from North and West Vancouver participated in the annual Artists for Kids fashion photography project. The students, who were selected by their schools to attend master classes in April and May, worked with a team of fashion industry professionals to photograph the autumn-winter 2012 ready-to-wear collection by Vancouver designer Jason Matlo. Under the guidance of Artists For Kids’ photographer-in-residence Victor John Penner and with the art direction of Jon Paul Holt of Avant Garde Hair Salon, the students captured the beauty and energy of Matlo’s designs in their digital imagery. An exhibition of student work will take place next fall at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art, located within the Education Services Centre at 21st Street and Lonsdale Avenue. The centre will open to the public in the fall and is the new home of Artists for Kids. For more about the project and to view a video clip of the program, visit www.artists4kids.com.
